The name Nicole means “victorious” and perhaps that is what has driven her to excel.

In 1994, at just eight years old, Roundy was diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer. After aggressive chemo therapy treatment, she chose to amputate her right leg above-the-knee.

As a young adult she participated in local sport programs, including volleyball and basketball but never embraced one sport over the other. In 2002 she was introduced to three track skiing. While she loved the adrenaline and excitement, something was missing. It became her goal to defy the “impossible,” and learn to snowboard.

In 2006 she became the first above-knee amputee to compete in adaptive snowboarding; taking home a silver medal from the United States National Championships.

Nicole's passion does not stop on the snow. In 2012 she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and pursued a seasonal career in the outdoor industry. She is a motivational speaker and an advocate for both The National Ability Center and The Challenged Athletes Foundation. Nicole encourages others to live an active, healthy lifestyle. During the summer, she can be found doing crossfit, yoga, hiking, wakeboarding, and paddleboarding.
